Douglas Clark was born in Darlington and brought up in the area before going to Glasgow to study for his degree in Mathematics.
He subsequently moved to Bath, Somerset, and worked for many years at Bath University before finally retiring to his house in Bath, where he still lives with his cat and an enormous collection of books.
Douglas still has family connections in Darlington and regularly visits the town, although he no longer writes or performs his poetry.
This books brings together poems that were written in or about the County Durham area. Sally Evans, the editor of Poetry Scotland, had the initial idea of bringing together the series of poems that form this compilation. Most of the poems have been previously published either by Douglas's own Benjamin Press or by Salzburg University Press.
